The obesity and health related problem(s) facing our country has become epidemic in proportion and America as a community must be willing to fix it. As this problem has escalated over the past few decades, all of America has been affected. Obesity and health related problems are the root cause for depleted net profits in Corporate America due to sick days, absenteeism, health claims and poor productivity, which all influences the rising costs of health care. It affects the productivity of government workers, educators and every American citizen and is contributing to the overwhelming financial burdens placed on our government and society as a whole. Most alarming is the fact that this problem has invaded our schools. Our pre-school and school-aged kids are facing premature illnesses and poor health, negative attitudes, poor attendance and consequently, poor academics.

The SOLUTION to this obesity PROBLEM for our school kids, that will improve their physical and academic fitness starts by addressing the ‘whole’ child.

Our studies and results seen in the Evaluation of the Health and Wellness Intervention Pilot Program for Obese and At-Risk Students prove that when our students are taught sound nutrition, get involved in regular exercise and physical activities plus taught how to develop a positive attitude about themselves, the results are improved physical and academic fitness.   (See: Stockton Unified School District Report )
